ServiceTitan is sold in Australia and it's a serious platform, but it was built first for the big American contractors in those YouTube plumbing videos, the ones with call centres, sales managers and forty white vans. It's priced per technician with no published prices, and some of its screens still show US dates on Australian accounts. For an Aussie trade business of twenty or so people, EasyDone does more of the everyday admin with a lot less weight, and the rest of this piece shows where, area by area.
We make EasyDone, so read our view with that in mind. To keep it real, we'll put both against one made up example: Walker Plumbing & Gas, run by Damien Walker. Twenty-two people, sixteen vans, a lot of hot water and gas work south of the river, and a growing commercial side doing tenancy fit-outs in Cockburn. Damien's on a little app that was perfect at six people and is about to burst at twenty-two.
What is ServiceTitan, really?
ServiceTitan is a big, established American platform for residential and commercial contractors, with products across call booking, dispatch, reporting, sales and customer-facing work. (ServiceTitan products, read 10 October 2026) It says it's trusted by over 100,000 contractors. (ServiceTitan packages, read 10 October 2026) Nobody's saying it's small or unproven.
It's sold in three packages, Starter, Essentials and The Works, and priced per technician. No prices are published. You request pricing. (ServiceTitan packages)
And it is available here. ServiceTitan's help pages describe accounts set up for Australia, and its support guide includes Australia. (ServiceTitan Help, ServiceTitan project guide: Australian formats, read 10 October 2026; ServiceTitan Help, ServiceTitan technical support, read 10 October 2026) So the "it's American only" line you'll hear at the trade counter isn't right.
But read the same help page closely. Its project guide notes that some project screens and generated documents still use US date formatting on Australian accounts. (ServiceTitan Help, ServiceTitan project guide: Australian formats) That's a small thing. It's also a very good clue about who the software was built for first.
Who is it actually built for?
In our view, ServiceTitan is built for the businesses in those American videos: large American residential contractors with a call centre, a marketing department, a sales manager on commission and a membership programme to sell. Its package list reads like it, too: call booking, commission tracking, customisable memberships, configurable payroll. (ServiceTitan packages)
That's not Damien. He's got one office manager, Narelle, a part-time bookkeeper, two leading hands and himself. Nobody at Walker's has the job title "dispatcher". Narelle does that between answering the phone and chasing a builder for a progress payment.
When software is built for a company ten times your size, you pay for the weight every day: in setup, in training, in screens nobody uses, and in the person you end up hiring just to keep it fed.
The assistants, side by side
Here's where it gets interesting, because ServiceTitan has the most ambitious AI of any of the big rivals.
Its assistant, Atlas, is described in its own help pages as your team's "AI sidekick". Today, those pages describe it looking up job details and customer history for technicians, giving field troubleshooting and equipment documents (some of that on the Field Pro add-on), guiding users through ServiceTitan's features, and creating capacity rules in plain language. Several Atlas pieces, including accounting and the owners' mobile app, are in private preview for select accounts, and that mobile app needs ServiceTitan's top Max tier. (ServiceTitan Help, Atlas, read 10 October 2026)
| What its AI does today | Does it do your admin? | |
|---|---|---|
| ServiceTitan | Atlas looks up jobs and customer history, guides users, helps with field troubleshooting and capacity rules; more is in private preview for select accounts. (ServiceTitan Help, Atlas) | It finds and explains. The bigger promises are still rolling out, mostly to the big end of town. |
| EasyDone | The Assistant can do anything a screen in EasyDone can: quotes, bookings, invoices, purchase orders, chasing, moving jobs, even your settings, typed or spoken.6 | Yes. You ask, it does it, you OK the money and the sends. |
Here's Damien's Wednesday in EasyDone. He's in the ute outside a Spearwood job and says: "Book Brodie into the Bibra Lake hot water job tomorrow at eight, quote the Cockburn tenancy for the extra floor waste at our usual rates, and tell me who still owes us over sixty days." The Assistant finds the jobs and the customers, uses his saved rates and defaults, asks for anything it can't find, and shows him the booking and the quote before anything goes. Money and customer sends always wait for his OK.6

It works inside each person's permissions, too, so an apprentice can log his hours but can't go sending quotes to builders.6
Verdict: theirs is a big promise on a big American platform. Ours does the work today, for a business Damien's size.
Does it fit the way Aussie trades work?
Three things to check with any overseas system, and three places EasyDone was built for from day one.
Dates and documents. If some screens and generated documents show the month first, (ServiceTitan Help, ServiceTitan project guide: Australian formats) someone will eventually book a job for the wrong day. EasyDone was built in Perth, for Australian trade businesses.
Accounting. ServiceTitan lists its integrations through its partner pages. (ServiceTitan partners and integrations, read 10 October 2026) Have Narelle and the bookkeeper see the exact connection to your accounting software, with a real invoice, a part payment and a corrected invoice, before you sign. EasyDone connects with Xero, MYOB and QuickBooks so invoices and bills go across without retyping.8
Support hours. Find out who answers when a job can't go ahead at 6.30 on a Perth morning, and write it down. (ServiceTitan Help, ServiceTitan technical support) With EasyDone, you're talking to people in your timezone who built the thing.
Projects: the commercial side
Damien's commercial work is growing fastest: tenancy fit-outs where the builder adds a floor waste in week two and wants progress claims monthly.
In EasyDone, every won quote lands on the project as its own scope. Each variation is a tagged scope with its own lines, labour budget and bar on the Gantt. Labour budget sits against hours actually burned while the job's running, milestones tick off, and progress claims go out numbered against the project, with retentions held and released as their own invoice.8

Stock follows the job, too. The hot water units and fittings on the quote flow onto the job as gear to order, go on a purchase order from the job, and get reserved for it when they arrive, so the Bibra Lake unit doesn't end up in a Coogee laundry.8

The phone app
Sixteen vans means sixteen phones, and they need to be dead simple. EasyDone's phone app opens on Today: the next job, the access notes and On my way, with the customer text previewed before it goes. Time runs against the job, and notes, photos, serial numbers and parts go straight onto it.8

Where's your data?
EasyDone runs your business on its own server in Sydney.9 Our one honest limit: some connected services (AI, email, payments) process data overseas, and your agreement lists them. The security page spells it out.9 For ServiceTitan, ask for the data-processing terms that apply to an Australian account, in writing.
When your business works a bit differently
Every good business has a quirk. Damien's: every gas job needs a photo of the compliance plate before the visit closes, and he wants it on the invoice. In a huge platform you configure what's there and live with the rest.
In EasyDone, Damien asks for the change. Workshop takes the request, plans it, builds it and tests it, and he reviews it before it's his.10
So is it "worth it"?
Worth it means the thing you get back is bigger than the whole commitment, not just the monthly bill. With any big platform, add up the lot before you sign:
- The software itself, for the package you actually need. Get it in writing, in Australian dollars, with GST spelled out.
- Setup, training and moving your data across. Ask what's included and what's billed as a service.
- The add-ons. If the feature in the video lives on a higher tier or an extra product, it's part of the price. (ServiceTitan packages; ServiceTitan Help, Atlas)
- The person who keeps it fed. If the system needs a full-time admin to stay accurate, that's a wage. Count it.
Then write down what you expect to get back, in plain terms you can check in three months. For Damien, it was three things: Narelle out the door by five, no hot water unit booked without the unit on the shelf, and progress claims out on the twenty-fifth without a weekend at the kitchen table.
How do you run a fair trial?
Don't let either salesperson pick the job. Give both the same two:
- An ordinary Monday. Twelve service calls, one that moves at 7 am, one customer with two sites.
- One awkward commercial job. A fit-out with a variation in week two, a backordered part and a progress claim due.
Then ask Narelle to do her part and a leading hand to do his, on their own phones, while you watch. The one that gets through both jobs with the fewest "we'll come back to you on that" is your answer.

The verdict
ServiceTitan is a big, capable platform, and it's here. It's just built for a business with a call centre and a dispatcher, and you pay for that weight in setup, training and the person who keeps it fed. For a business Damien's size, EasyDone's Assistant does the admin today, the projects side handles variations, claims and retentions, and the odd quirk gets built for you. Run the fair trial above with your own two jobs and let the result decide.
Book an EasyDone demo with your own job. Bring your messiest commercial job and your busiest Monday. We'll run both, in your timezone.
